A good doctor will work with you and figure out if meds are called for or not. Find one that you trust and work with them. If they won't work with you, move on to another. We suspected our son at about that age but did not do anythi...

That could really have alot to do with it. Exercise and focusing on something in particular like sports can help greatly. Not for everyone, but thankfully it works for you!

Stratterra was working great after it built up in my system (about 3 weeks). I was more than pleased but then I started having side effects that I could not tolerate and switched to Concerta 36's. The results were not as good as the Stratterra but at this point in time, I am sticking with it.

Personal Information
Name: Larry
Gender: Male
About Me: Undiagnosed until age 41.
Made it through school by reading rather than being able to pay attention to teachers. Often in trouble for not being able to sit still or pay attention or even mischief because I was bored.
Went for Bachelor's Degree as an adult and achieved a Masters in 2005. (MDiv) Couldn't understand why I could not pay attention but had been doing it all my life so had gotten used to it. Did a lot of outside reading (and re-reading and re-reading and re reading) to get through the courses.
Sought medical help while helping my son deal with his ADHD.
The ADHD has not always been negative as I used the creativity and the ability to fly by the seat of my pants quite a bit. It has helped me in my work as a pastor.
On the negative it is hard to stay still and my office stays a mess. Strattera worked well until I had to stop due to side effects. We shall see how stimulants work.
Update:
Concerta is working pretty good. So far no blood pressure problems but it is still not as good as the Strattera was. I will be checking with the dr. about adjusting the dose.
---Now on 27mg Concerta

My 7 year old is starting Vyvanse tomorrow after being on Strattera for about 2 years.
---after about 2 weeks, it seems to be working quite well. No major side effects and positive results.
---upped to 30 mgs of Vyvanse, trying to extend the effectiveness through school hours.

Now I'm on 36 mg Concerta. Doing pretty good so far.
---Joshua started a low dose of Strattera along with the Vyvanse 30s. It is doing pretty good to combat the chewing and irritation.

Over Easter Joshua began experiencing strong anger issues as his meds wore off. Sort of a rebound thing. We ended up stopping all meds and will probably start Concerta.

Concerta has been working well for about two weeks now. Anger stopped right away when we stopped the Vyvanse. Different kids, different reactions.

Stopped Strattera and started Risperdol, as of tomorrow. We shall see.

A week into things the Risperdol (.25 mg per day) is working wonders. We will be keeping an eye on things.

My own journey with Concerta 36 is doing pretty good. Need to talk to the doc about the hour of restlessness from 1 - 2 pm.

Josh is doing well with the addition of Respidron
.025.

Had a hectic summer. Mostly good though. Josh started the 09 school year off doing great!
He is currently seeing a counselor who specializes in play therapy and we are seeing good results!

Thank you I'm so excited that I found this site!

I did get a discount card from a program the company was running but this was supposed to be for the full amount . I'll have to call back to the shrink's office and try to get a handle. The meds are so expense and I pay all out of pocket.

Haven't seen you in some time. Is all well? You wrote, back in the saddle, and then gone, what's up? I've had a very busy summer so I can imagine how busy you can be. I've done work with some elderly and have one that is so needy but wants to stay independant and refuses help, for fear of her dependency, may cost her freedom. I usually work with children in the school year but this summer it seems has been my turn with the elderly. Nice change but I think I'm better with the children for now. School is starting up so soon and I'll have lots to do to prepare myself. cheers

Nice to see you back, I've also been very busy this summer. Listen to me, talking as if its already over. I have about a month left and its all taken up with commitments. But, I have been having a blast this summer, enjoying every moment. Did you check out my son's wedding pic's? My fairytale wedding was so beautiful. I'm picking up the new couple from their honeymoon on Monday. I need to be patient for them to catch up so they can tell me all about the trip, they went to Italy and then France. Doing the wine tour and much more...

Hi, just curious with how things are going for you? Hope all is well and summer is good! I've been really busy with the Mona Vie juice. And now the first hybrid energy drink is launching in Canada and orders are coming in for a health drink with sustainable energy without the crash, cheers.

Thanks for the welcome! Just curious as to what side effects Strattera gave you? My doc and I have been talking over that med for me to try. Have a great day.
