Hello: I am new to this webite and am so thankful that it is here.  My 11 year old was recently diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety by a neuropsychiatrist to whom we took him for an evaluation.  She has suggested Strattera and for me to take him for a baseline liver function test and an ECG before starting.  Just the thought that he needs these tests for possible liver and heart damage is so frightening.  When I read about the other side effects of straterra, loss of appetite, possible growth retardation, it is very scary.  Most frightening, he already talks in times of stress of suicide.  Is this really the only drug that is out there?   Is there anything that is effective which doesn't have these horrible side effects?
